The work Brush and Ink by Netherlands artist Maartje Blans is a miniature installation work. She tends to use plain and simple materials of everyday life, paper and cotton thread, and employs a highly succinct representational method of manual craft to express her feeling for her materials in an intuitive and artistic way. From the special experience of being a western woman living in China, she roams between Eastern add Western culture. By her understanding of painting, ink and wash, emptiness, line and space, she reveals the relationships and perception of reality underlying the presentation of the visual physicality. – Curator Zhang Yu-
